// Cholemen chalojmes (Yiddish - in Polish transcription)
In der tifkajt fun der nacht,
lign barg un tol fartracht –
cholemen chalojmes,
cholemen chalojmes.
Szikt der barg cum tol a blik,
entfert tol bald op curik,
zelbike rajojnes,
cholemen chalojmes.
Tol un barg un barg un tol,
blien blumen on a col,
kiszef, kiszef umetum,
kiszef, kiszef umetum.
Widert op der barg a kol,
entfert wider op der tol –
bald wert sztil arum,
bald wert sztil arum…
// Śniąc sny
nocą ciemną otulone
góra i dolina – zamyślone
śnią sny,
śnią sny.
Śle góra dolinie spojrzenia,
ta je szybko odwzajemnia.
Połączone myślą
śnią sny.
Dolina i góra, góra i dolina,
kwitnących kwiatów kraina.
Czar, czar dookoła,
Czar, czar dookoła.
Góry głos schodzi w niziny,
wnet też słychać głos doliny.
Wkrótce wszystko ucicha,
wkrótce wszystko ucicha.
Dreaming Dreams
Wrapped up in a pitch-black/the darkest night,
vale and mountain so delight
in dreaming dreams unending,
dreaming dreams unending.
Mountain gazes at the vale,
she glances back without delay.
Joined by thoughts transcending,
dreaming dreams unending.
Vale and mountain, mount and vale,
Flowers bloom at every step.
Magic, magic everywhere,
magic, magic everywhere.
Mountain calls accross to the vale,
vale’s reply is swiflty heard.
Soon, everything falls silent,
everything falls silent.

One of my favourite musical discoveries in a while. These musicians are seriously talented. I can’t help imagining that there would have been a whole significant subculture of Yiddish psych rock like this in a different, kinder universe. For now, this is a window into that world that might have been. And I love every second of it. Audrey

i love a hedonism-monologue from the secondary antagonist of purim because i'm not above admitting akhashverosh's parties were probably pretty fun for him and his buds. s'a mekhaye tsu lebn af der erd, it's a delight to live on the earth! or at least we should make it be. absolutelynotjosh
